Hi! I used to hang out at Piazza d'Azeglio when I was a teen, cose its close to a high school and to a junior high school too. In my opinion its a very calm area, if you dont consider SS. Annunziata in the night (not nice ppl sometimes hanging there...in the summer there is an open-air pub with live music), you're really close to the Duomo and you have pubs and shops close too. In Piazza d'Azeglio you'll find children and moms in the day, cose the are some games for kids, in the night maybe teens. And if wanna play soccer, theres a small field too, and its free. Interesting....well....depends on what you mean. I think its a nice place to live in, no traffic, not many cars passing... You can call the area as "Piazza d'Azeglio area", as I call mine "San Marco area", in these cases theres not a name for the area, but you identify them by the main square.
Omg...I wrote too much Hope that you'll find it useful at least.
Ciaaaoooo

Ciao Eric, Piazza d'Azeglio can be considered also part of the Sant'Ambrogio district that is one of the most lively and safe of the city..it's a part of the city where you can find many bars, pubs, restaurants, shops of any kind in a no traffic, very safe area.... Anyway , I dont know where you come from, but the city center of Florence is quite small and you can reach every district, monument, church, museum of Florence in 10-15 minute walking from Piazza d'Azeglio... I recommend you this area... The only question is: your apartment is located inside the big City Boulevard or Outside? Because Piazza d'Azeglio is on the border of the historical center (signed by the presence of large trafficked Boulevards)...If you are inside that area you can consider to live in one of the top areas of Florence... Ciao!

Dukessa and, well, "staff"... I can't express the degree of appreciation that I have for your helpful words! I can't read enough about this subject, even with the helpful article here on the website! The thing is that I'll be studying there in the coming year through the California State University system, so I'm not anchored to the area, but I wanted to get an idea of it as I'll look there first for apartments. Safe and quiet sounds good to me... I am a huge fan of live music -- the open-air pub has me very excited -- and I love the arts as well as the artsy, but I'm also pretty quiet and reflective, so the slow pace and quietude sounds wonderful to me! My study center is located on Via G. Leopardi, but I'd suspect that I'd be very willing to live anywhere within walking distance. It's all something that I must consider, but your helpful words are really helping me out! I can't express how excited I am for all of this!!!!!!!
